BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

WFP works in Honduras to promote and protect livelihoods and human capital, addressing the root causes of hunger and poverty and meeting the basic needs of the most vulnerable populations in crisis situations, in close collaboration with the government and other partners in the country. WFP has been present in Honduras since 1970, reaching nearly 1.5 million beneficiaries annually. WFP has a strong field presence, with offices and logistics facilities in Tegucigalpa, Comayagua, Marcala, Santa Rosa de Copán, Choluteca, San Pedro Sula, Gracias a Dios, and La Ceiba.

The purpose of this recruitment is to execute general and, in some cases, specialized communication administrative processes that support the creation of communication content and the provision of communication services aimed at maintaining and enhancing WFP’s visibility and reputation and supporting fundraising activities. The incumbent assumes responsibility for carrying out a series of communication processes and activities that require a certain level of interpretation of guidelines and standard practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES (Not all inclusive, nor exhaustive):

The post holder reports to the Head of the CAM Unit and generally reports to the Director of PMA and is responsible for the following functions:

Ensure coordination and provide administrative and specialized services to assist staff in developing, preparing, and executing communication campaigns for target audiences.
Oversee and coordinate materials, schedules, facilities, and permits, and provide support for special events and video/film, photography, and radio projects.

Conduct clearly defined research and prepare reports and provide data that enable informed decision-making.
Monitor traditional and social media and communicate relevant information to senior staff to inform the development and/or evaluation of communication activities and strategies.
Follow specific guidelines, prepare content for traditional and social media platforms and networks, and print materials, to enhance coverage and support for WFP activities, ensuring consistency with institutional messaging and standards.

Share communication guidelines for WFP staff to reference when creating content.
Manage and maintain records and databases, such as contact lists for journalists and media outlets, to ensure information is accurate, organized, and easily accessible to others.
Respond to a wide variety of inquiries and support requests, applying standardized processes and obtaining the necessary guidance to ensure timely and accurate resolution of all inquiries.

Coordinate, together with the Head of Unit, the liaison between WFP staff and the media to harmonize activities and contribute to the effectiveness of the communication approach within WFP.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Education:

Completion of secondary education. A post-secondary education certificate in the field of communications, journalism, or graphic design will be considered.
Experience:

Five years of demonstrated work experience in similar activities.
Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of various communication techniques.
General knowledge of administrative processes.
Knowledge of writing rules and good spelling.
Knowledge of graphic design packages, video editing, and social media content development.
Knowledge of MSOffice, with experience using other corporate platforms and database management.
Teamwork skills, able to provide ad-hoc assistance or guidance to other staff members.
Planning skills, organized.
Customer-oriented skills.
Languages:

Oral and written fluency in Spanish (Level C) and working-level English proficiency to read WFP materials and policies.
